The initial situation

With more than 5,500 employees in 58 operating companies and over 45 countries, FUCHS PETROLUB SE is the world‘s largest independent supplier of lubricants. Despite its global presence, FUCHS PETROLUB didn’t have a globally uniform recruiting system in place. Applicants therefore had problems finding the job offers distributed on the various country websites. This delayed the filling of vacant positions and increased the number of cases in which FUCHS PETROLUB had to resort to headhunters.

The approach

Throughout the entire project phase, the teams from Promerit and FUCHS PETROLUB worked together in close coordination to achieve the goals they had set. Promerit led through a pre-defined process, helped with setting the administrative course, solved technical challenges and supported key strategic decisions. However, since FUCHS PETROLUB had employees with the appropriate know-how, a large part of the operative implementation was carried out internally. This included the development of texts and templates and localization for the individual countries.

The process

Instead of using a conventional project sequence with a predefined concept rigidly worked towards, Promerit took an iterative approach: It started with a kick-off workshop that all project participants took part in. This workshop, in which the initial requirements and the new process were defined, was followed by two scheduled iteration loops. In them the jointly developed points were implemented and new requirements defined. The project participants met regularly in continuous workshops to discuss the status of work and agree on the further procedure.

The results

Thanks to this systematic approach, the schedule was fully adhered to in all phases. Within only 10 months after going live, the new system was successfully made available in the first 22 subsidiaries in 18 countries. In Germany alone, the new job portal received around 100.000 visits in 6 months.
