How do companies evaluate specialist careers?

Specialist careers offer development opportunities for those who don’t want to take on management tasks, but prefer to gain know-how in specific issues. In order to retain these employees and to keep their knowledge within the company, many employers are now offering specialist careers. Together with the ESB Business School and the University of Applied Science Furtwangen, Promerit conducted a survey from May to July 2013. 140 companies in Germany, Austria and Switzerland took part in the structured online survey.

Core findings

The majority of companies who took part in this study deal with specialist careers, but concepts are not consequently realized.
